CSF FAQ
What is CSF? California Scholarship Federation is a statewide organization to honor outstanding high school students for their academic achievements.
Do I get a scholarship for being in CSF? Being in CSF does not guarantee that you will get a monetary scholarship, but membership is something that you can put on your list of awards and activities and those who have met the requirements for Life Membership (Seal-bearer) status will be recognized at Senior Awards night.
Why do we pay membership dues? The CSF state organization charges LLHS membership dues in order to belong to their academic honor society. The dues also cover the cost of awards given to seniors who are Seal-Bearers.
What happens if I miss the membership deadline? The following excerpts were taken from the CSF website, www.csf-cjsf.org: Membership is neither automatic nor compulsory. The By-Laws (Article IV, Section 2) and every chapter’s mandatory Standing Rules (Article III, Section 3) require that the eligible student actually apply for membership, and retroactive membership (after the deadline) is prohibited. Students are responsible for reading school announcements and responding within the application period.
What is a lifetime member and what kind of awards may I get? The requirements for Life Member (also called “Seal-bearer”) are stated above. The REQUIRED awards for Life Members are the pin and the embossing of the chapter seal on the diploma.
