Visual & Performing Arts

The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Department at Las Lomas offers dynamic and comprehensive programs designed to inspire creativity, foster talent and develop technical skills in a variety of artistic fields. Whether your passion lies on the stage, in the studio, or mastering a musical instrument, our VAPA department has a pathway for you to explore and excel. 

  • Theater Arts: Dive into the world of performance and production with our exceptional theater department. Students can explore acting techniques and dramatic literature in Drama classes from beginning through advanced, including musical theater. Learn the essential skills of costume & prop design, lighting, sound, and stage management in our Stagecraft classes.
  • Instrumental Music: Our outstanding comprehensive instrumental music program offers both ensembles and academic options. Students can join the following instrumental courses: Jazz Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic or Concert Band. For the academically inclined musician, we offer AP Music Theory.
  • Visual Arts: Students interested in the visual arts choose from a diverse selection of hands-on courses designed to develop technical skills and encourage creative expression. 
    • 3D Art Program: Students learn composition, craftsmanship and concepts with a variety of hands on sculptural materials, including a full semester of ceramics.  Courses include beginning through advanced levels, culminating in the option to take AP 3D Art and Design.
    • 2D Art Program: Explore drawing, painting, and other 2D media in a progression of courses from beginner up to the college-level portfolio classes, AP Drawing and AP 2D Art and Design.
    • Digital Design Program: Merge technology and creativity in our Digital Design program, which guides students from beginner concepts to advanced techniques in graphic design, digital illustration, and multimedia creation. Digital Design courses are co-curricular courses with DVC and students can earn college credit for both Digital Design 1 and Advanced Digital Design.
